How its measured

Computer storage (main memory or archive areas), is measured in bytes, where one byte can be thought of as a single character or letter of the alphabet.

Kilobytes, Megabytes and Gigabytes

The following terms are used to measure the capacity of flash drives, hard disks, optical storage or main memory

Kilo	1024 bytes
Mega	1 million bytes
Giga	1 thousand million byte

Flash memory is used in cameras, PDAs and mp3 music players (such as iPods) and is typically available in the range 2GB to 32GB

DVD disks are used for video and data storage and can store 4.7 GB of information.

Blu-ray disks are the next generation of DVD disks and can store far more information – 25GB which can store films in HD high resolution.

Hardisks are the internal memory storage device for computers – they typically offer 500GB of storage.
